The Chicago Cubs look for another win after winning four of their last six games. The Cubs scored 13 runs in Wednesday’s win and four or more runs in five of their last six games. The Chicago Cubs are 5-2 this season when scoring more than three runs. Kris Bryant leads the Cubs with 16 hits and eight RBI while Willson Contreras and Ben Zobrist have combined for 25 hits and six RBI. Kyle Hendricks gets the ball, and he is 0-0 with a 4.09 ERA and six strikeouts this season. Hendricks is 4-2 with a 3.23 ERA and 49 strikeouts in his career against the Pirates.
The Pirates are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series, 1-4 in their last 5 Thursday games and 1-4 in Williams' last 5 road starts. The Cubs are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series, 38-14 in their last 53 Thursday games and 5-2 in Hendricks' last 7 starts with 5 days of rest. The Cubs are 6-2 in Hendricks' last 8 starts vs. Pirates.
I'm not sure why the Cubs are still laying these prices, but I'm not asking questions. The Pittsburgh Pirates have been one of the biggest surprises up to this point and have a pitcher in Williams who has allowed just two earned runs in 11.1 innings. Yes, that was against the Tigers and Reds, but he's still been impressive regardless. Hendricks has allowed five earned runs in 11 innings and the Cubs have now lost five of his last seven regular season starts. Give me the heavy plus money here.
