The Giants were limited to six hits and four free passes with Buster Posey going 2-4 with a homer and a pair of RBI’s followed by Andrew McCutchen driving in a run and scoring. Right hander Chris Stanton draws the series opening start at San Diego on Thursday. Stratton comes off of a 7-5 win (ND) versus the Dodgers with three runs allowed (two earned) over five frames.

The San Diego Padres struggled on the mound early and a  late rally fell short in a 6-4 defeat at Colorado on Thursday afternoon. San Diego starter Luis Perdomo tossed two scoreless frames before Buddy Baumann was charged with five runs (two earned) in 1/3 of an inning.

The Padres managed six hits and a walk and struck out 13 times with Franchy Cordero going solo while Eric Hosmer doubled and homered and scored twice. San Diego sends Bryan Mitchell to the bump for his first career meeting with San Francisco. Mitchell did not receive a decision in a 1-0 loss at Houston with a three hit shutout over 5.2 innings where he did walk six.
