For Friday’s game, the Angels will be bringing out LHP Andrew Heaney for the start. Heaney is making his season debut after missing the first part of the season due to elbow inflammation.

Topping the Angels’ offense coming into this set was Andrelton Simmons with 19 hits, 12 runs, a homer and eight RBI. In the Thursday game, Simmons bagged two more hits and a run while Shohei Ohtani slapped a triple and reaped three RBI.

Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with Jason Hammel on Friday. Across 11.0 innings and an 0-1 record this year, Hammel has a 4.09 ERA with eight Ks.

Leading the way for the Royals heading into this series was Mike Moustakas with 13 hits, seven runs and eight RBI. On Thursday, Moustakas had a pair of hits and a run.

The Angels are 4-1 in the last five Friday games and 19-7 in their last 26 during game two of a series. LA is also 1-6 in the last seven of Heaney’s starts and 0-4 in his last four road starts.

Meanwhile, the Royals are 8-2 in their last 10 in game two of a series and 1-4 in Hammel’s last five Friday starts. KC is also 1-5 in Hammel’s last six starts and 0-6 in his last six starts versus the AL West.

This should make for an interesting pitching matchup. On one hand, Hammel has been a mixed bag in his two starts (five earned in one and zero in the other) and he could be trouble for LA if he continues throwing like he did in Cleveland. On the other, we’ll get to see how Heaney reacts in his first start of the season; coming off an injury you never really can tell. All things considered I’m going Angels (mostly due to their offensive advantage) but it should be a fun one to watch.
