Coming up from Comerica Park on Sunday, the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers will be meeting up to continue their MLB series in the evening game of a doubleheader. This is a make-up game due to a rainout Saturday.
In the Friday opener, Detroit nearly mounted a huge comeback but New York was able to hold them off for an 8-6 Yanks win.

On Sunday, the Yankees will be bringing out RHP Luis Cessa. He’ll be filling in for CC Sabathia during this turn in the rotation.
Big man Aaron Judge led the way for the Yanks coming into this series, carrying 17 hits, 12 runs, three homers and eight RBI. On Friday, Aaron Hicks ripped two homers (one an inside-the parker) and posted three RBI.
Over on the Detroit side, they’re going with Matthew Boyd for the Sunday evening start. Boyd is 0-1 with a 1.38 ERA this year.
Nick Castellanos was the top hitter for the Tigers entering this series, and he had 14 hits, eight runs and five RBI. In the Friday game, Castellanos had a pair of hits and a run.
The Yankees are 8-2 in their last 10 during game two of a series and 8-3 in their last 11 Saturday games. The under is 5-1 in New York’s last six Saturday games and the over is 4-1 in their last five during game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 2-6 in their last eight during game two of a series and the under is 5-0 in their last five during game two of a series. The under is also 6-2 in the Tigers’ last eight Saturday games and the over is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Detroit.
This is a very important series for both teams. New York needs to wash the taste out of their mouths following a disappointing set in Boston, and Detroit wants to rack up some home wins versus an AL contender. On paper, the Yankees should be dominating here, but New York just hasn’t lived up to the hype in the early-going. I’m going Tigers as a value pick but otherwise staying away until things level out a bit.
