On Sunday, the Cardinals will be bringing out RHP Carlos Martinez. In his 18.2 innings and 1-1 record this year, Martinez has a 2.41 ERA with 19 Ks and 10 BBs.

Coming into the weekend, St. Louis’ top hitter was Marcell Ozuna with 19 hits, six runs and 10 RBI to his name. On Saturday, Greg Garcia had a big day with two homers, three RBI and three runs.

Over on the Reds’ side, they’re going with RHP Homer Bailey on Sunday. In his 16.2 innings and 0-2 mark this season, Bailey has put up a 3.24 ERA with 12 Ks and six walks.

Scooter Gennett was the top hitter for the Reds entering the weekend with 16 hits, four doubles, four runs and four RBI. In the Saturday game, Gennett managed three hits.

The Cardinals are 1-4 in their last five Sunday games and 6-0 in Martinez’s last six starts with four days’ rest. St. Louis is also 4-1 in Martinez’s last five starts and 1-4 in his last five Sunday starts.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 4-1 in their last five during game four of a series and 26-54 in their last 80 Sunday games. Cincinnati is also 1-4 in Bailey’s last five starts and 2-9 in his last 11 home starts.

The Cardinals needed to make some waves in this series to get back on track in the early-going, and they’ve done a pretty good job of that so far. I think Bailey will stifle the St. Louis offense a bit, but that’s not enough to push me off St. Louis.
