The Miami Marlins need a victory here after losing eight of their last 10 games. The Marlins have scored eight runs in their last three games and three or less runs in seven of their last 10 games. The Miami Marlins have lost seven straight games when scoring six or less runs. Derek Dietrich leads the Marlins with 18 hits and four RBI while Starlin Castro and Miguel Rojas have combined for 31 hits and 10 RBI. Jose Urena gets the ball, and he is 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. Urena is 1-1 with a 7.31 ERA and eight strikeouts in his career against the Pirates.
The Pirates are 5-0 in their last 5 Sunday games, 2-9 in Novas last 11 road starts and 2-7 in Novas last 9 starts. The Marlins are 1-6 in their last 7 home games, 8-20 in Urenas last 28 home starts and 0-5 in Urenas last 5 starts. The over is 4-1 in Marlins last 5 games following a loss.
I've been doing nothing but fading the Miami Marlins this season, but there will be spots to back them with the plus money. This may be one of them. Urena is actually a pretty decent pitcher with good stuff, it just comes to control and keeping the ball down. Urena has improved since his opener against the Cubs and is kind of due for a true breakout performance. Nova is more than hittable, allowing eight earned runs in his last 12.1 innings and a .265 batting average this season overall. I'll take a shot with the plus money.
