The Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners meet Sunday in MLB action at Safeco Field.
The Oakland Athletics hope to prevent a sweep after losing six of their last eight games. The Athletics have allowed 23 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five straight games. The Oakland Athletics are just 2-8 this season when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Jed Lowrie leads the Athletics with 21 hits and 12 RBI while Marcus Semien and Matt Chapman have combined for 36 hits and 21 RBI. Sean Manaea gets the ball, and he is 1-2 with a 1.74 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. Manaea is 3-3 with a 4.32 ERA and 34 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.

The Seattle Mariners hope to get the sweep while building on their four-game winning streak. The Mariners have scored 17 runs in this series and four or more runs in eight of their last 11 games. The Seattle Mariners have won seven straight games when scoring more than two runs. Dee Gordon leads the Mariners with 18 hits and four RBI while Jean Segura and Robinson Cano have combined for 33 hits and 11 RBI. Felix Hernandez gets the ball, and he is 2-1 with a 6.60 ERA and eight strikeouts this season. Hernandez is 25-9 with a 2.60 ERA and 288 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.
The Athletics are 11-3 in their last 14 Sunday games, 4-0 in Manaeas last 4 starts with 4 days of rest and 3-7 in Manaeas last 10 road starts. The Mariners are 2-8 in their last 10 Sunday games, 1-4 in Hernandezs last 5 Sunday starts and 6-2 in Hernandezs last 8 starts. The Athletics are 0-5 in the last 5 meetings in Seattle, 1-9 in the last 10 meetings and the Mariners are 31-11 in Hernandezs last 42 starts vs. Athletics.
I don't trust teams that can't get outs without allowing crooked numbers, and the Oakland Athletics have been getting rocked night in and night out. The Seattle Mariners have hot bats and have a nice winning streak going when putting up at least three runs. Hernandez hasn't been his best to start the season, but he's owned the A's about as well as any team he's pitched against in his career. Hard not to side with the Mariners at home and the cheap price.
