We have some NL East MLB action on Monday, as the Atlanta Braves host the Philadelphia Phillies at SunTrust Park for game one of a three game set.
The Philadelphia Phillies will look to stay hot after winning 6 straight and 8 of their last 9 games following their second straight series sweep after a 10-4 beatdown of Tampa Bay on Sunday. Aaron Altherr and Scott Kingery led the team with three RBIs apiece, with Altherr adding a home run while Kingery went 2 for 5 with a double. Maikel Franco went 1 for 5 with two RBIs, while Cesar Hernandez and Rhys Hoskins each contributed an RBI to round out the scoring for the Phils in the win. Ben Lively gave up three runs on seven hits while striking out five over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Yacksel Rios got the win to improve to 2-0 this season after throwing 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Aaron Nola will start the opener and is 1-0 with a 1.96 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. In his career, Nola is 5-1 with a 1.93 ERA and 40 strikeouts against Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves come into this one rested after having their series finale against the Cubs postponed on Sunday due to inclement weather. The Braves had to settle for a split with Chicago after blowing a 10-2 load en route to a 14-10 loss in game two on Saturday. Ozzie Albies went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double and four RBIs. Dansby Swanson and Nick Markakis each had a double and two RBIs, while Freddie Freeman and Kurt Suzuki each had an RBI to round out the scoring for Atlanta in the loss. Charlie Culberson added a double while Lane Adams and Peter Bourjos each contributed base hits to finish off the offense for the Braves in defeat. Sean Newcomb gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits while walking four and striking out seven, not factoring in the decision. Jose Ramirez gave up five runs on two hits in just 0.1 innings, falling to 0-1 with the loss. Julio Teheran will get the start in game one and is 0-1 with a 7.07 ERA and 12 strikeouts this season. In his career, Teheran is 8-6 with a 3.52 ERA and 99 strikeouts against Philadelphia.
Philadelphia is 6-0 in their last 6 games overall and 0-5 in Nola’s last 5 road starts while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a right-handed starter. Atlanta is 7-3 in Teheran’s last 10 starts and 7-3 in their last 10 home games while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Atlanta is 9-3 in Teheran’s last 12 starts against Philadelphia.
The plus money with Atlanta at home is tempting considering that the Braves have had success against the Phillies with Teheran on the mound, and that Teheran is starting to get some luck at home, which is something we haven’t been able to say the last couple of seasons. However, Philly is hot right now, and while Atlanta is better than Cincinnati and Tampa Bay, both teams that the Phillies have swept during this winning streak, I think the Phillies are easier to trust right now, so I’ll lay the juice with Philadelphia here.
