Out at Tropicana Field on Monday, the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays will be kicking off their MLB series.

The Rangers are coming off a set versus the Astros. The two teams split the first pair of games—each decided by just one run—and then on Sunday Texas secured a 10-inning victory 3-1.

On Monday, the Rangers will be going with LHP Martin Perez for the start. In his 8.1 innings and 1-1 record this year, Perez has a 11.88 ERA with three Ks and four BBs.

The Rangers’ leading hitter coming out of the week was Adrian Beltre with 17 hits, three RBI and six runs to his name. On Sunday, Robinson Chorines ripped a solo homer and had three RBI.

Over on the Rays’ side, they’re fresh off a series against the Phillies. Tampa dropped the Friday and Saturday games, then in the Sunday finale the Rays fell again 10-4.

Tampa is going with Blake Snell for the start on Monday. Over his 15.0 innings and 1-1 record this season, Snell has a 3.60 ERA with 17 Ks and 10 BBs.

Leading the way for the Rays in hitting entering this week was Matt Duffy with 15 hits, four runs and seven RBI. In the Sunday game, Duffy managed to go 1-for-5.

The Rangers are 5-13 in their last 18 Monday games and 0-8 in their last eight during game one of a series. Texas is also 5-1 in Perez’s last six road starts and 10-3 in his last 13 starts.

Meanwhile, the Rays are 7-19 in their last 26 Monday games and 3-9 in their last 12 during game one of a series. Tampa is also 5-2 in Snell’s last seven home starts and 0-4 in Snell’s last four Monday starts.

Texas hung in there versus the Astros, which is pretty admirable considering no one is expecting them to do much this season. That said, Perez has been pretty choppy so far and may make things difficult for the Texas offense. Still, that’s not enough to push me off the Rangers.
