Tuesday evening out at Chase Field, the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be kicking off their MLB series.
The Giants are coming off a four-game set versus the Padres. After winning the Thursday game, San Francisco dropped the next three.
USA TODAY Sports
Johnny Cueto will be starting for the Giants on Tuesday. In his 13.0 innings and 1-0 mark this season, Cueto has a 0.69 ERA with five Ks and two walks.
Tops for the Giants in hitting this season is Joe Panik, with 17 hits, eight runs and four RBI. Buster Posey is second on the team with 15 hits, five runs, two homers and eight RBI.
Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they played the Dodgers this weekend. Arizona took the first two games but lost 7-2 on Sunday.
Arizona will be going with LHP Patrick Corbin on Tuesday. In his 18.1 innings and 2-0 mark this season, Corbin has a 2.45 ERA with 29 Ks and four BBs.
Leading the way for the Diamondbacks on offense this year are Ketel Marte and David Peralta, each with 17 hits apiece and 18 runs between them. AJ Pollock is also playing well on 15 hits, nine runs and 12 RBI.
The Giants are 5-2 in their last seven during game one of a series and 2-6 in the last eight Tuesday games. San Francisco is also 5-0 in Cueto’s last five road starts and 5-0 in his last five starts.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 35-17 in their last 52 in game one of a series and 9-3 in Corbin’s last 12 starts. Arizona is also 7-2 in their last nine versus the NL West and 9-3 in their last 12 overall.
Cueto has been really solid in his two starts this year, allowing just one earned run. Corbin’s been no slouch either however, with five earned across three starts. This should be a fun pitching matchup to watch, but provided the Giants can give him a few runs I like Cueto to get a win here. I’ll take San Fran as a value pick.
