The Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins square off in MLB action on Tuesday to kick off their mini two game set from Target Field.
The Cleveland Indians come into this one extremely well rested after not taking the field since Friday, being rained out on both Saturday and Sunday against Toronto, with the only game resulting in an 8-4 loss to the Blue Jays, snapping the Tribe’s five game winning streak in the process. Francisco Lindor went 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, while Jason Kipnis added an RBI and a double of his own in the loss. Yonder Alonso and Tyler Naquin each added runs on the board to round out the scoring for Cleveland in the loss, while Jose Ramirez, Yan Gomes, Bradley Zimmer and Rajai Davis each contributed base hits in defeat. Mike Clevinger went four innings, giving up four runs on three hits while walking a pair and striking out five, not factoring in the decision. Zach McAllister took the loss, falling to 0-2 this season. Corey Kluber will be slated to start the opener and is 1-1 with a 1.57 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kluber is 8-5 with a 3.31 ERA and 140 strikeouts this season.

The Minnesota Twins are even more rested than Cleveland, not having played since Thursday after having all but one of their games against the White Sox postponed due to inclement weather. The Twins lone matchup in the series resulted in their 3rd straight win thanks to a 4-0 victory. Joe Bauer led the Twins with three RBIs, going 2 for 3 at the dish, while Brian Dozier added a double and an RBI in the win. Miguel Sano and Eddie Rosario each added a double while Eduardo Escobar and Byron Buxton each chipped in base hits of their own in the win. Jose Berrios improved to 2-1, getting the win after tossing seven innings of three hit shutout baseball, striking out 11 en route to the victory. Jake Odorizzi will start the opener and is 1-0 with a 2.20 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. In his career, Odorizzi is 1-1 with a 3.93 ERA and 20 strikeouts against Cleveland.
Cleveland is 20-7 in Kluber’s last 27 division starts and 26-9 in their last 35 road games while the under is 4-1 in Kluber’s last 5 road starts. Minnesota is 8-3 in their last 11 division matchups and 5-2 in their last 7 games overall while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 home games against a right-handed starter. Cleveland is 14-3 in the last 17 meetings between these two teams in Minnesota.
Two well rested teams in this one, so it’s not like either team has an advantage there, however, while the Twins have been good at home, and while Odorizzi has been solid to start the year, the Indians have owned the Twins in their own backyard over the last couple of years, and you rarely get prices under -200 for Kluber, so I’ll lay the juice with Cleveland to pick up the win here.
