The New York Mets look for a bounce back victory to build on their impressive 12-3 record. The Mets have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in eight of their last 11 games. The New York Mets are 12-1 this season when scoring more than one run. Asdrubal Cabrera leads the Mets with 21 hits and seven RBI while Todd Frazier and Yoenis Cespedes have combined for 26 hits and 23 RBI. The Nationals are 15-6 in their last 21 Tuesday games, 10-4 in Gonzalezs last 14 road starts and 2-5 in Gonzalezs last 7 starts. The Mets are 6-1 in their last 7 during game 2 of a series, 5-13 in their last 18 Tuesday games and 2-5 in Wheelers last 7 starts with 5 days of rest. The Nationals are 47-16 in the last 63 meetings in New York, 4-1 in Gonzalezs last 5 starts vs. Mets and 12-2 in Gonzalezs last 14 road starts vs. Mets.
The New York Mets are obviously one of the hotter teams in the league right now and the consistent play is rubbing off with the lineup and the pitching staff. Wheeler was sharp in his debut and is plenty rested for his next start. The problem is you almost never see the Nationals at even money, especially when Gonzalez is on the hill. Gonzalez's numbers in terms of batting average and what not isn't so hot against current Mets hitters, but his career numbers against this team is lights out success. Tough to fade the Mets at home, but it's even tougher to turn down the even money with the Nats.
