The Kansas City Royals and the Toronto Blue Jays meet in the finale of their three game series from Rogers Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

The Kansas City Royals will look to bounce back after dropping both parts of their doubleheader, pushing their losing streak to seven games after an 11-3 loss in game one and a 5-4 extra innings loss in game two. In game one, Lucas Duda and Mike Moustakas each hit a solo homer but it wasn’t enough as Eric Skoglund gave up five runs on eight hits while striking out six over five innings of work, taking the loss to fall to 0-2 this season. Game two saw Abraham Almonte and Alcides Escobar go yard while Mike Moustakas and Lucas Duda didn’t hit a homer but added an RBI in the second half of the doubleheader. Danny Duffy threw six shutout innings with eight Ks, but didn’t get the decision. Brad Keller got a blown save, while Brian Flynn gave up the walk-off hit to fall to 0-1 this season. Ian Kennedy will start the finale and is 1-1 with a 1.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kennedy is 0-1 with a 2.50 ERA and 19 strikeouts against Toronto.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to stay hot after winning 3 straight and 6 of their last 7 after taking both parts of the doubleheader on Tuesday. In game one, Yangervis Solarte hit a homer and added four RBIs, while Randal Grichuk also went yard with three RBIs. Jaime Garcia got the win to improve to 2-0 on the year after giving up all three runs on eight hits while striking out five over five innings of work. In game two, Luke Maile went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, including the game winning RBI single in the 10th. Steve Pearce went 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI and Devon Travis added a pinch-hit RBI of his own. Joe Biagini gave up three runs on six hits, not factoring in the decision in the start. Ryan Tepera had his first blown save of the year, while Tyler Clippard got the win to improve to 2-0 in relief. J.A. Happ will start the finale and is 2-1 with a 3.94 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. In his career, Happ is 2-3 with a 4.25 ERA and 27 strikeouts against Kansas City.

Kansas City is 0-6 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record and 3-13 in their last 16 games overall while the under is 6-0 in Kennedy’s last 6 starts overall. Toronto is 4-1 in Happ’s last 5 starts against a team with a losing record and 6-1 in their last 7 games overall while the under is 23-11-1 in their last 35 home games. Toronto is 0-4 in Happ’s last 4 starts against Kansas City.

The Blue Jays have had no luck against Kansas City with Happ on the mound over the last couple of seasons, however that was when the Royals were a much better team, and while Kennedy is a solid arm, and the price is steep for Haps, I think it’s the only option as you can’t back KC or go against Toronto in their respective forms.
