The Texas Rangers host the Seattle Mariners in the series opener between AL West foes in a Friday MLB matchup.
The Seattle Mariners took one on the chin in a series ending 9-2 loss to visiting Houston on Thursday. Seattle starter Marco Gonzales allowed three unearned runs over 4.2 frames while three relievers gave up a combined six runs.

The Mariners managed seven hits and a base on balls with David Romine doubling in a run and scoring with Jean Segura also smacking a run scoring double that plated Guillermo Heredia.
The Mariners are sending Felix Hernandez to the hill to face Texas on Friday night. Hernandez comes off of a 2-1 loss to the Athletics with both runs plated on five hits through 6.1 innings.
The Texas Rangers need to string a few wins together to keep from falling too far behind in the AL West. Texas comes off of a 4-2 defeat at Tampa Bay where the offense never got going. Rangers starter Cole Hamels gave up all four runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings to fall to 1-3.
The Texas offense consisted of six hits and three bases on balls Shin-Soo Choo clubbing his 5th homer while Drew Robinson singled in Adrian Beltre. Mike Minor toes the rubber for the Rangers against visiting Seattle on Friday. Minor did not get a decision in a 6-5 loss at Houston last time out with five runs given up on five hits in five frames.
Over is 8-2-2 in Seattle last 12 road games and under is 6-2 in Seattle last 8 Friday games and Seattle are 6-2 in their last 8 Friday games. Over is 6-2 in Texas last 8 home games and Texas are 7-19 in their last 26 home games and Texas are 9-21 in their last 30 overall. Seattle are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Texas.
Hernandez is on the downside of his career and Minor has missed a few years so the matchup on the hill might be even. I give a slight edge to Seattle at decent odds…
