For the Saturday game, the Cubs will be rolling out RHP Yu Darvish for the start. In his 15.0 innings and 0-1 mark this season, Darvish has a 6.00 ERA with 17 Ks and seven walks.
The Cubs’ top hitter coming into this set was Kris Bryant with 20 hits, 10 runs, two homers and 10 RBI to his name. On Friday, Bryant ripped two hits with a pair of runs.
Over on the Rockies’ side, they’re going with LHP Tyler Anderson on Saturday. In his 19.0 innings and 4.74 ERA this year, Anderson has put up 21 Ks and 12 BBs.
Entering this series, Colorado’s leading bat was DJ LeMahieu with 24 hits, 12 runs, five homers and nine RBI. In the Friday game, LeMahieu had a run and an RBI.
The Cubs are 12-5 in their last 17 Saturday games and the over is 4-0 in their last four during game two of a series. The over is 4-1-1 in Chicago’s last six Saturday games and they’re 2-4 in their last six versus the NL West.
Meanwhile, the Rocies are 5-2 in Anderson’s last seven Saturday starts and the under is 4-0 in their last four during game two of a series. The under is 4-1 in Colorado’s last five Saturday games and they’re 6-3 in their last nine overall.
Dervish has had a rough go in two of his three starts this season, with nine combined earned runs over 9.0 innings in those. As for Anderson, he came out of the gate rough but has been solid in his last three games. If both guys are on, this should be a solid pitching matchup. As it stands now I can’t trust Darvish against a decent offense so I’m going Rockies here.
