The Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds square off in game one of a four game MLB set on Monday evening.

The Atlanta Braves come into this one rested after having Sunday’s finale against the Mets postponed because of rain. With that said, the Braves still managed to win the shortened series after taking Saturday’s matchup by a final score of 4-3. Freddie Freeman led the Braves with two RBIs, going 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles while Ender Inciarte and Johan Camargo each added an RBI as well to round out the scoring for Atlanta in the win, with Camargo adding a triple. Julio Teheran allowed just four hits over seven shutout innings striking out six, while Jesse Biddle got the win in relief for his first win of the year. Mike Foltynewicz will start game one and is 1-1 with a 2.53 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season. In his career, Foltynewicz is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 19 strikeouts against Cincinnati.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Atlanta Braves - 4/23/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Reds will look to snap a five game losing streak after losing 13 of their last 14 games, including a 9-2 loss in their series finale against St. Louis, resulting in a sweep by the Cardinals. Jesse Winker went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while Joey Votto added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the Reds in defeat. Scott Schebler, Alex Blandino and Luis Castillo each contributed a base hit in the losing effort. Speaking of Castillo, he took the loss on the mound, falling to 1-3 this season after giving up three runs on seven hits while walking four and striking out three over five innings of work. Sal Romano will start the opener and is 0-2 with a 5.75 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season. In his career, Romano is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 3 strikeouts against Atlanta.

Atlanta is 4-12 in their last 16 games against the NL Central and 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a right-handed starter while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 road games. Cincinnati is 1-5 in Romano’s last 6 starts and 16-37 in their last 53 games overall while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games against a right-handed starter.

Getting a home underdog can be tempting, but the value all goes out the window when it’s Cincinnati, who have lost 13 of their last 14 games. Atlanta is a surprise out of the NL East this season, and while Romano had success in his lone career start against the Braves, Atlanta is simply the better team here and getting a low line, even on the road, is worth playing, so I’ll lay the juice with Atlanta here.
