American League West rivals the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers take the field in MLB action on Monday.
Even though the Oakland Athletics have been a .500 team so far the team has proven to be a difficult foe. Oakland comes off of a 4-1 win versus Boston behind outstanding work on the mound where starter Daniel Mengden gave up the lone run on six hits over 6.1 frames.

The Athletics logged nine hits with Khris Davis leading the way with a three run homer and RBI single while Marcus Semien scored twice. Trevor Cahill gets his second start of the 2018 campaign against the Rangers on Monday. Cahill kicked off the year with a 10-2 win versus the White Sox where he struck out eight over seven scoreless frames.
The Texas Rangers need a long hot streak to get back to .500 and build some much needed confidence. Texas took a step in the right direction following a 7-4 win versus Seattle where the bats took control. Rangers starter Martin Perez picked up the win with a pair of runs allowed over six innings.
Texas mustered eight hits and three bases on balls with Nomar Mazara going solo while Joey Gallo went deep drove in two and scored twice. The Rangers saw Isaiah Kiner-Falefa drive in a pair followed by Adrian Beltre who went 2-3 and scored three times.
Left hander Matt Moore takes the ball against the visiting Athletics on Monday night. Moore defeated Tampa Bay 7-2 last time out with an unearned run allowed through seven innings of work.
Under is 15-6-1 in Oakland last 22 Monday games and Oakland are 4-9 in their last 13 Monday games and over is 9-3-3 in Cahill’s last 15 starts overall. Texas are 6-20 in their last 26 home games and are 8-21 in their last 29 games on grass and are 9-23 in their last 32 overall. Oakland are 10-3 in Cahill’s last 13 starts vs. Texas and Oakland are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Texas.
Oakland hasn’t done very well at Texas but I like the makeup of this team and believe the Athletics are worth a look…
