MLB action continues at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday where the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves meet.
A late Atlanta Braves rally went for naught as the team fell at Cincinnati 9-7 in 12 innings. Atlanta starter Brandon McCarthy allowed five runs (three earned) over five innings with AJ Minter giving up a pair of 7th inning runs while Max Fried served up a walk off two run bomb in the 12th.

The Braves managed eleven hits and four BB with Freddie Freeman smacking a pair of solo homers with Kurt Suzuki going 3-5 with a homer, two RBI’s and two runs. Ender Inciarte gave Atlanta a pair of RBI’s with seven starters posting hits overall.
Atlanta turns to Matt Wisler for his second start of the season on Wednesday. Wisler defeated the NY Mets 12-4 in his first outing with a run allowed over seven frames while striking out eight.
The Cincinnati Reds will be gunning for a rare winning streak after the arms and bats cam up big in Tuesday’s 7-4 win versus Atlanta. Cincinnati starter Tyler Mahle gave up three runs on three hits and two BB while striking out eleven over six frames while Amir Garrett was charged with three 9th inning runs.
The Reds banged out 12 hits and walked four times with Joey Votto going solo and scoring twice followed by Scooter Gennett who went 3-5 with a pair long balls including a two run walk off while scoring three and driving in four.
Cincinnati has named Brandon Finnegan as Wednesday’s starter versus visiting Atlanta. In his last five starts dating to 2017, Finnegan has gone 0-3 with 15 runs allowed on 19 hits and 20 BB over 14.1 innings.
Under is 6-2 in Atlanta last 8 road games and over is 24-10-3 in Atlanta last 37 Wednesday games and Atlanta are 5-11 in their last 16 road games. Cincinnati are 3-13 in their last 16 home games and are 16-36 in their last 52 overall and are 16-36 in their last 52 games on grass.
I’d be lying if I said I knew what to expect from either hurler. All I can say is the numbers say Atlanta should hit Finnegan so perhaps something on the Braves team total over…
