The Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians square off in the finale of their mini two game interleague set from Progressive Field on Wednesday.

The Chicago Cubs will look to complete the sweep and push their winning streak to three games after winning four of their last five games following a 10-3 beatdown of the Indians on Tuesday. Kyle Schwarber belted a pair of solo home runs, while Ian Haps also went yard with a home run and two RBIs and Tommy La Stella added two RBIs of his own in the win. Willson Contreras added a solo homer, while Javier Baez went 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Albert Almora Jr. and Anthony Rizzo each added an RBI as well to round out the scoring for the Cubbies in the win. Jason Hayward and Addison Russell each had a double with Heyward going 2 for 4 at the dish as all nine Cubs who stepped up to the plate in the game recorded a base hit. Tyler Chatwood got his first win of the year, improving to 1-3 after giving up one run on four hits while walking and striking out five apiece. Jon Lester will start game two and is 2-0 with a 3.10 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. In his career, Lester is 7-1 with a 3.03 ERA and 93 strikeouts against Cleveland.

The Cleveland Indians will look to settle for a split after dropping the opener on Tuesday. Erik Gonzalez, Jason Kipnis and Edwin Encarnacion each logged an RBI to round out the scoring for the Tribe in the losing effort, while Bradley Zimmer and Jose Ramirez each had three hits with a double and Tyler Naquin chipped in a base hit as well to finish off the offense for Cleveland in the losing effort. Josh Tomlin took the loss, remaining winless at 0-3 this season after giving up five runs on seven hits while striking out three over 3.2 innings of work. Trevor Bauer will start the finale and is 1-2 with a 2.67 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season. In his career, Bauer is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 7 strikeouts against the Cubs.

Chicago is 12-2 in their last 14 interleague games and 39-18 in Lester’s last 57 starts while the over is  5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Cleveland is 0-8 in Bauer’s last 8 interleague starts and 38-18 in their last 56 games against a left-handed starter while the under is 12-4 in their last 16 games overall. Chicago is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.

I know Cleveland will break out of this slump, and it could come at home here considering how well they’ve played against left-handed pitching. However, Lester has been pretty much money in his career against Cleveland, while the Tribe have struggled with Bauer on the mound against the National League. Plus money and a Cubs team that’s woken up offensively sounds good to me on Wednesday, so I’ll roll with it.
