The Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles duke it out in the rubber match of their three game set from Camden Yards in MLB action on Sunday.
The Detroit Tigers will look to win the set after evening up the series at one win apiece after their 9-5 victory in game two on Saturday. Miguel Cabrera led the Tigers with five RBIs, going 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while Victor Martinez belted out a solo homer and James McCann, Leonys Martin and Nick Castellanos each contributed runs on the board in the win as well. JaCoby Jones added a pair of doubles, while Jose Iglesias and Dixon Machado each added base hits of their own in the winning effort. Francisco Liriano got the win, improving to 3-1 this season after giving up three runs on six hits over 6.1 innings of work. Daniel Norris will start game three and is 0-1 with a 4.85 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. In his career, Norris is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 5 strikeouts against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will look to bounce back after dropping game two on Saturday. Manny Machado led the O’s with two RBIs, going 2 for 5 at the dish, while Jace Peterson, Craig Gentry and Chance Sisco each added RBIs in the losing effort. Trey Mancini and Anthony Santander each had two hits, with Santander adding a triple while Mancini belted a double. Danny Valencia added a pair of hits as well as four players each added two hits to make up the eight base hits for the Orioles in defeat. Andrew Cashner took the loss, falling to 1-4 this season after giving up seven runs, six earned, on seven hits while walking three and striking out four. Kevin Gausman will start game three and is 1-2 with a 4.66 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gausman is 1-1 with a 3.95 ERA and 32 strikeouts against Detroit.
Detroit is 1-5 in Norris’ last 6 starts and 10-26 in their last 36 road games while the over is 9-3 in their last 12 games against the AL East. Baltimore is 2-6 in Gausman’s last 8 starts and 12-39 in their last 51 games overall while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 home games against a left-handed starter. Baltimore is 0-4 in Gausman’s last 4 starts against Detroit.
The Tigers may have got the upper hand in game two, but anyone who knows me knows that Daniel Norris is one of the pitchers I fade whenever I can. I’m not sure why, but every time I watch the guy pitch, he’s getting rocked and hooked from the game early. Norris is also getting shuffled in and out of the Tigers’ starting rotation, which doesn’t really inspire any confidence in terms of consistent action. Gausman has given up two runs in three of his last four starts, and I think if he pitches decent, he can help carry the O’s to a series win on Sunday.
