The St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates meet Sunday in MLB action at PNC Park.

The St. Louis Cardinals look to prevent the sweep here after splitting their last six games. The Cardinals have allowed 15 runs in their last three games and six or more runs in four of their last nine games. The St. Louis Cardinals have lost four straight games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Jose Martinez leads the Cardinals with 30 hits and 18 RBI while Tommy Pham and Marcell Ozuna have combined for 57 hits and 27 RBI. Luke Weaver gets the ball, and he is 2-1 with a 4.85 ERA and 24 strikeouts this season. Weaver is 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA and 13 strikeouts in his career against the Pirates.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals - 4/29/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Pirates look to stay hot while building on their four-game winning streak. The Pirates have scored 13 runs in their last three games and six or more runs in four of their last five games. The Pittsburgh Pirates are an impressive 13-4 this season when scoring more than two runs. Starling Marte leads the Pirates with 31 hits and 11 RBI while Corey Dickerson and Josh Bell have combined for 55 hits and 31 RBI. Nick Kingham will make his major league debut when he takes the hill today. Kingham was 43-41 with a 3.37 ERA and 617 strikeouts in his minor league career.

The Cardinals are 5-2 in their last 7 during game 3 of a series, 6-1 in Weavers last 7 road starts and 10-4 in Weavers last 14 starts. The Pirates are 6-1 in their last 7 Sunday games, 8-2 in their last 10 during game 3 of a series and 1-4 in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning record. The Cardinals are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Pittsburgh and the under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

Weaver has been awful as of late, allowing 11 hits and 10 runs in his last 8.2 innings, and it's been even worse on the road where he's giving up a .305 batting average in 15 innings. This would be a good spot to take the plus money as a fade, but I always have a hard time backing somebody making their MLB debut. You have no idea what to expect from Kingham in his first big league game. So, because of that, I have no choice but to back the Cards. However, there are better options on Sunday's card.
