The Toronto Blue Jays and the Minnesota Twins square off in game one of a three game MLB set from Target Field on Monday.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to build some steam after snapping a four game losing streak with a 7-2 win over the Rangers on Sunday, avoiding the sweep as well. Yangervis Solarte and Randal Grichuk each had two RBIs with two hits, with Solarte adding a home run. Teoscar Hernandez, Justin Smoak and Kevin Pillar each added RBIs to round out the scoring with Hernandez and Pillar hitting solo homers and Hernandez adding a double as well. Russell Martin and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. each chipped in base hits as well to finish off the offense for the Blue Jays in the win. J.A. Happ got the win after giving up both runs on five hits while striking out nine over seven innings of work. Aaron Sanchez will start game one and is 1-2 with a 3.69 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. In his career, Sanchez is 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA and 13 strikeouts against Minnesota.

Minnesota Twins vs. Toronto Blue Jays - 4/30/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Twins are in dire need of a win after dropping 10 of their last 12 games, including an 8-2 loss in their series finale against Cincinnati on Sunday. Jason Castro went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI while Joe Mauer added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the Twins in the loss. Eduardo Escobar went 2 for 4 with a double, while Logan Morrison and Ehire Adrianza each added doubles of their own and Brian Dozier chipped in a base knock as well to round out the scoring for the Twins in the loss. Jose Berrios took the loss, falling to 2-3 this season after giving up four runs on five hits over just three innings of work. Lance Lynn will start game one and is 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season. In his career, Lynn is 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 8 strikeouts against Toronto.

Toronto is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the AL Central and 1-5 in Sanchez’s last 6 starts while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games overall. Minnesota is 1-9 in their last 10 games overall and 0-4 in Lynn’s last 4 starts while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games against the AL East. Toronto is 51-21 in the last 72 meetings between these two teams and 24-11 in the last 35 meetings in Minnesota.

The Blue Jays dropped a pair at home to a less than stellar Rangers team, but they rebounded nicely in the finale and still have a more potent top to bottom than the Twins in my opinion. Furthermore, Minnesota is struggling mightily over the last couple of weeks, including Lynn, who has allowed 11 runs in his last 9.2 innings and his teams have lost 11 of his last 13 starts between the Twins and last season in St. Louis. Lynn is on auto-fade for me until he shows signs of life, so I’ll take Toronto on the road for the cheap price.
