The Colorado Rockies and the Chicago Cubs square off in the rubber match of their three game set from Wrigley Field in MLB action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Colorado Rockies will look to win the series after evening up the set at one win apiece following their 3-1 victory in game two on Tuesday. All three Rockies runs were put on the board via solo homers from Charlie Blackmon, David Dahl and Nolan Arenado. Starting pitcher Jon Gray added a base hit of his own to round out the offense for Colorado in the win, with the Rockies mustering up just four hits in the victory. Speaking of Gray, he got the win to improve to 3-4 this season, giving up one run on three hits while striking out six over seven innings of work while Wade Davis struck out a pair in the 9th for his 11th save of the year. Tyler Anderson will start game three and is 1-0 with a 4.10 ERA and 28 strikeouts this season. In his career, Anderson is 1-0 with a 4.85 ERA and 14 strikeouts against the Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs will look to win the set after dropping game two on Tuesday. Anthony Rizzo’s solo home run accounted for the lone run for the Cubs, while Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber each had base hits to round out the offense for the Cubbies in the loss, as Chicago put up just three hits as a team in the loss. Kyle Hendricks took the loss, falling to 2-2 this season after giving up three runs on four hits while striking out five over 7.2 innings of work. Yu Darvish will start game three and is 0-2 with a 5.26 ERA and 29 strikeouts this season. In his career, Darvish is 0-2 with a 10.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts against Colorado.
Colorado is 1-4 in their last 5 road games and 2-5 in Anderson’s last 7 starts against a team with a winning record while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games overall. Chicago is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a left-handed starter and 5-1 in their last 6 game 3 matchups while the under is 4-0 in Darvish’s last 4 starts overall. The under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
This is one of the harder games to call on Wednesday in my opinion. I have no desire to lay heavy juice with Darvish, even if he looked good in his last outing, giving up just an unearned run and even with the Rockies offense sputtering. On the other hand, Colorado has some serious problems offensively over the last week, scoring just 7 runs over their last 5 games. I'd probably leave this one alone personally, but if forced to pick, I'd side with Colorado and the plus money.
