We have some NL East division action on the diamond on Wednesday as the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Miami Marlins in the finale of their three game set from Marlins Park.
The Philadelphia Phillies will look to salvage a win and avoid the sweep after losing the first two games of the series, including a 2-1 heartbreaker in game two on Tuesday. Rhys Hoskins accounted for the lone Phillies run in the loss, going 1 for 4 with a double. Carlos Santana added a double as well, while Jorge Alfaro went 2 for 4 at the dish. Odubel Herrera, Aaron Altherr and Nick Williams each contributed base hits as well to round out the offense for Philadelphia in the loss. Zach Eflin gave up one run on three hits while striking out four over six innings of work, while Yacksel Rios took the loss to fall to 3-1 this season. Aaron Nola will start game three and is 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA and 28 strikeouts this season. In his career, Nola is 2-3 with a 4.57 ERA and 45 strikeouts against Miami.

The Miami Marlins will look to stay hot and complete the sweep after their victory in game two on Tuesday. Justin Bour tied the game with a solo homer while Yadiel Rivera hit a walk-off RBI single in the 10th for the win. Cameron Maybin added a triple and Miguel Rojas doubled while J.T. Realmuto, Starlin Castro and Brian Anderson each chipped in base hits in the victory. Jarlin Garcia went six innings, giving up the lone run on five hits while striking out three, not factoring in the decision. Junichi Tazawa got the win to improve to 1-1 this season. Jose Urena will start game three and is 0-4 with a 4.91 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season. In his career, Urena is 1-2 with a 5.34 ERA and 24 strikeouts against Philadelphia.
Philadelphia is 4-0 in their last 4 games after losing the first two games of a series and 5-16 in Nola’s last 21 road starts while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Miami is 0-8 in Urena’s last 8 starts and 1-10 in Urena’s last 11 starts against a team with a winning record while under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a right-handed starter. Philadelphia is 1-4 in Nola’s last 5 starts against Miami.
The plus money is extremely tempting given how Miami has found ways to win in the first two games of the series, in addition to Nola’s struggles on the road and against the Marlins. However, Urena has had no luck dating back to the end of last season, and the Phillies have done a good job avoiding the sweep, something I think they do here so I’ll lay the juice with the Phillies.
