NL Central MLB action features the Pittsburgh Pirates visiting the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.
The Pittsburgh Pirates were in the wrong place this week as the team suffered a sweep at the Washington Nationals following 3-1 defeat on Thursday. Pittsburgh couldn’t get the bats going which made a loser of Trevor Williams who surrendered a two run homer and solo shot though 5.2 innings of work.

The Pirates mustered five hits and did not walk with Gregory Polanco smacking an RBI double that scored Colin Moran in the 8th. Rookie Nick Kingham makes his second career start for Pittsburgh on Friday. Kingham was outstanding in his debut with a 5-0 victory versus St. Louis with one hit allowed while striking out nine over seven frames.
The Milwaukee Brewers are looking for another win following a 3-1 victory at Great American Ball Park. The offense didn’t light up the scoreboard but didn’t need to with starter Wade Miley giving up the only run on three hits and three walks over six frames.
The Brewers did their damage on 12 hits and a base on balls with Christian Yelich clubbing his third long ball of the year while Manuel Pina and Orlando Arcia also recorded RBI’s.
Milwaukee has named Junior Guerra as Friday’s starter against the visiting Pirates. Guerra absorbed a 3-0 loss at the Cubs in his last outing with a lone run plated through six frames.
Pittsburgh are 0-7 in their last 7 road games and are 1-5 in their last 6 during game 1 of a series. Milwaukee are 11-4 in their last 15 overall and are 11-4 in their last 15 games on grass and are 7-3 in their last 10 Friday games. Under is 24-7-2 in the last 33 meetings.
Guerra has been stingy when facing Pittsburgh but Kingham is a bit of an unknown with one major league start. I’d take a shot at the under here…
