The Atlanta Braves will look to avoid the sweep after dropping the first two games of the set, including the loss on Saturday. Nick Markakis went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Freddie Freeman added an RBI to cap off the scoring for Atlanta in the loss. Ozzie Albies went 2 for 4 with a double of his own while Kurt Suzuki and Jose Bautista added base hits of their own in the losing effort for the Braves. Brandon McCarthy took his first loss of the year, falling to 4-1 after allowing eight runs on twelve hits over just 3.1 innings of work. Michael Soroka will start game three and is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. This will be Soroka’s first career start against San Francisco.
San Francisco is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall and 10-21 in their last 31 games against the NL East while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 games overall. Atlanta is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall and 9-0 in their last game 3 matchups while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 home games.
Soroka proved to be every bit as good as advertised in his debut against the Mets, but he will be up against it here as the Giants have owned the first two games of this series so far. The Braves have been good at closing out series so far this season, but Suarez is a solid arm in his own right and well worth taking the shot at the plus money on Sunday.
