Sunday Night MLB brings us a NL Central matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs.
The Chicago Cubs are in a bit of a dry spell after an 8-6, ten inning defeat at St. Louis on Saturday left the team with four straight defeats. Chicago starter Tyler Chatwood was charged with four runs in four frames with Brandon Morrow giving up two 9th inning runs to blow the save while Luke Farrell served up a two run walk off in the 10th to get the loss.

The Cubs totaled 12 hits and two BB with Javier Baez cracking a two run homer with Anthony Rizzo going 2-5 with a homer an two RBI’s. Veteran left hander Jon Lester has been named the starter for the Cubs on Sunday night. Lester did not get a decision in a 3-2 win versus Colorado with a pair of unearned runs allowed in 5.2 frames.
Some late offense and solid work out of the bull pen lifted the surging St. Louis Cardinals to their 4th straight win Saturday versus the Cubs. St. Louis starter Luke Weaver was charged with four runs over four frames with the relief corps keeping Chicago off the scoreboard in the final three innings.
The Cardinals did plenty of damage on seven hits and seven walks with Kolten Wong clubbing a two run walk off homer in the 10th. St. Louis saw Matt Carpenter and Marcell Ozuna each drive in a pair while Harrison Bader and Paul DeJong each scored twice.
Michael Wacha toes the rubber against the visiting Cubs on Sunday night. Wacha received a no decision last time out in a 3-2 win versus the Chicago White Sox where he gave up both runs in five innings of work.
Under is 8-1 in Chicago last 9 overall and under is 8-1 in Chicago last 9 on grass and under is 14-4-3 in Chicago last 21 Sunday games. Under is 8-1 in St. Louis last 9 Sunday games and St. Louis are 13-5 in their last 18 overall and St. Louis are 13-5 in their last 18 games on grass. Over is 9-2-1 in Wacha’s last 12 starts vs. Chicago and Chicago are 12-4 in the last 16 meetings.
These teams have been heading in the opposite direction but Wacha is the key to me as I think the Cubs can get one here…
