The Los Angeles Angels and the Colorado Rockies duke it out in the opener of their mini two game interleague set from Coors Field on Tuesday night in MLB action.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to stay hot after winning five of their last six games, including an 8-2 beatdown of the Mariners in their series finale on Sunday. Mike Trout and Rene Rivera each had three RBIs, with Trout going 3 for 4 with a home run, while Rivera went 2 for 5 with a double. Chris Young and Zack Cozart each added an solo home run to round out the scoring for L.A. in the win, with Cozart adding a double as well. Justin Upton, Luis Valbuena, Andrelton Simmons and Jabari Blash each added base hits as well to cap off the offense for the Angels in victory. Shohei Ohtani got the win, improving to 3-1 this season after giving up both runs on six hits while striking out six over six innings of work. Andrew Heaney will start game one and is 1-1 with a 5.31 ERA and 24 strikeouts this season. In his career, Heaney is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA and 5 strikeouts against Colorado.

Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rockies will look to stay hot after five straight wins, completing the three game sweep of the Mets with a 3-2 win in the series finale on Sunday. Ian Desmond hit a pair of solo home runs, while Gerardo Parra went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI of his own to round out the scoring. David Dahl went 2 for 5 with his first double of the year, while Charlie Blackmon and Daniel Castro each added base hits as well to cap off the offense for the Rockies in the win. Kyle Freeland got the win to climb to 2-4 this season, allowing both runs on four hits while striking out eight over seven innings of work, while Adam Ottavino notched his first save of the season. Jon Gray will start game one and is 3-4 with a 4.99 ERA and 41 strikeouts this season. This will be Gray’s first career start against the Angels.

Los Angeles is 1-4 in Heaney’s last 5 road starts and 13-3 in their last 16 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Colorado is 6-2 in Gray’s last 8 home starts against a team with a winning record and 5-0 in their last 5 games overall while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 games overall. Los Angeles is 11-1 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams and 8-0 in the last 8 meetings between the two teams in Colorado.

Both of these teams come in red hot, which is why it’s so hard for me to pick a winner. Los Angeles and plus money is tempting, but Colorado at home is a different animal especially when the Rockies are finding ways to win. However, Heaney has thrown back-to-back one run starts, and the Angels have owned this series, especially at Coors Field so I’ll take a stab at plus money on Tuesday as the Angels draw first blood.
