The Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers meet Tuesday in MLB action at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
The Detroit Tigers could use a win here after losing eight of their last 12 games. The Tigers have allowed 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last 11 games. The Detroit Tigers have lost six straight games when allowing more than two runs. Offensively, Nicholas Castellanos leads the Tigers with 44 hits and 22 RBI while Jeimer Candelario and Leonys Martin have combined for 74 hits and 29 RBI. Mike Fiers gets the ball, and he is 2-2 with a 5.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. Fiers is 0-3 with a 8.90 ERA and 28 strikeouts in his career against the Rangers.

The Texas Rangers also need a victory here after losing six of their last nine games. The Rangers have scored 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last eight games. The Texas Rangers have won six of their last 10 games when scoring more than one run. Nomar Mazara leads the Rangers with 39 hits and 24 RBI while Shin-Soo Choo and Joey Gallo have combined for 65 hits and 41 RBI. Mike Minor gets the ball, and he is 3-1 with a 4.36 ERA and 28 strikeouts this season. Minor is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 12 strikeouts in his career against the Tigers.
The Tigers are 12-30 in their last 42 road games, 3-9 in their last 12 Tuesday games and 1-4 in their last 5 road games vs. a left-handed starter. The Rangers are 17-35 in their last 52 games on grass, 7-23 in their last 30 home games and 4-1 in Minors last 5 starts. The Tigers are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Texas and 0-4 in the last 4 meetings.
Neither one of these pitchers are guys I'm trying to get behind, as Fiers has allowed three or more runs in four straight starts and is allowing a .279 batting average. Minor is allowing about a run every two innings and allows way too many flyballs for my taste. However, the Texas Rangers are the better team between these two clubs and Minor has been much more effective at home this season where he has a 2.86 ERA with an allowed batting average of .228. I'll take the home team and the cheap price. The Tigers are simply awful at the moment and Fiers provides no confidence.
