The New York Mets kick off a weekend series at the Philadelphia Phillies in a Friday MLB tilt.
The New York Mets look to regroup following a 2-1, ten inning loss at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday. The New York offense never got going and in the process a strong effort on the mound from Zack Wheeler went for naught with Wheeler giving up a run in a six inning stint. AJ Ramos absorbed the loss for the Mets with a walk off homer surrendered in the 10th.

The NY Mets have named Steven Matz as the starter in the series opener at Philadelphia. Matz comes off of a 2-1 loss to Colorado with a run given up on three hits and a walk over six frames.
The Philadelphia Phillies put the finishing touches on a series sweep of San Francisco following a come from behind 6-3 victory on Thursday. Philadelphia starter Vince Velasquez allowed three early runs before going six innings and striking out 12 to pick up the win.

The Mets have generally fared the best in this matchup but I get the feeling that things are beginning to tilt in favor of Philadelphia…
