The Tampa Bay Rays collide with the Baltimore Orioles in game two of a doubleheader in a Saturday MLB tilt.
The Tampa Bay Rays are in 4th place in the American League East and are sub .500 which is not a good place be in a top heavy division. There is not one area that is dragging Tampa Bay down but several.

The Rays do hit the ball well with a .259 team batting average yet are ranked #19 in scoring at 4.24 runs. With Tampa Bay only hitting 28 long balls the offense appears to be moving one base at a time.
The Rays haven’t been awful on the mound with a 4.17 ERA which is middle of the row but the lack of support has been costly. Tampa Bay gives Chris Archer the starting assignment in the night cap of their DH at Baltimore. Archer did not get a decision in a 2-1 loss to Toronto where he gave up a run through seven frames.
The Baltimore Orioles season is in ruins already and especially with the team being dead last in the American League East and just cracking double figures in wins with a quarter of the season almost gone.
The Orioles have no offense to speak of with just 3.53 runs on a .226 batting average. The O’s work on the mound has been just as bad with a 5.18 ERA so with both the pitching and offense ranked #29 wins have been difficult to find.
Baltimore has not named a starter although Alex Cobb has popped up in a few spots.
Tampa Bay are 2-5 in their last 7 overall and under is 4-0 in Tampa Bay last 4 road games. Baltimore are 13-46 in their last 59 overall and are 12-41 in their last 53 games on grass. Tampa Bay are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Baltimore.
Baltimore has showed some life the past few days and if Cobb is going I’ll back the Orioles but check lineups because night caps of twin bills could see players sitting out…
