The Milwaukee Brewers and the Arizona Diamondbacks duke it out in game one of their three game set from Chase Field in MLB action on Monday night.
The Milwaukee Brewers will be looking to build some momentum after winning their four game set with the Rockies, taking three of the four games after a 7-3 win over Colorado in Sunday’s matchup. Jesus Aguilar led the Brew Crew with a home run and three RBIs, while Christian Yelich went 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Travis Shaw added a solo homer and Tyler Saladino went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI to round out the scoring for Milwaukee in the victory. Domingo Santana went 3 for 4 with a double and Hernan Perez added a two-bagger of his own, while Manny Pina went 2 for 4 and Jonathan Villar added a base knock to cap off the offense for the Brewers in the winning effort. Freddy Peralta had quite the debut, throwing 5.2 shutout innings, allowing just one hit while recording 13 of a possible 17 outs by way of strikeout, earning the win in the process. Junior Guerra will start the series opener and is 2-3 with a 3.09 ERA and 34 strikeouts this season. in his career, Guerra is 0-1 with a 3.09 ERA and 8 strikeouts against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to snap a five game losing skid after being swept by the Nationals in a four game series, culminating in a 6-4 loss on Sunday Night Baseball in the series finale. Jarrod Dyson led the D-Backs with two RBIs on a pinch hit, while David Peralta went 1 for 5 with a triple and an RBI and Daniel Descalso added a double and an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the D-Backs in the loss. A.J. Pollock and Ketel Marte each went 2 for 4 with Marte adding a double, while Chris Owings and Nick Ahmed each added base hits as well in the defeat. Zack Godley gave up four runs on seven hits while striking out six over 6.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Archie Bradley gave up a two-run homer in the 8th, taking the loss to fall to 0-1 this season. Patrick Corbin will start game one and is 4-0 with a 2.12 ERA and 67 strikeouts this season. In his career, Corbin is 2-4 with a 5.03 ERA and 36 strikeouts against Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is 8-1 in their last 9 games against the NL West and 3-7 in Guerra’s last 10 starts while the under is 22-4 in their last 26 road games against a team with a winning record. Arizona is 16-5 in Corbin’s last 21 home starts and 0-5 in their last 5 games overall while the under is 18-6-2 in their last 26 home games. Arizona is 0-4 in Corbin’s last 4 starts against Milwaukee.
The plus money is definitely worth a look as the Brewers come into this one in better form and have had Arizona’s number with Corbin on the bump. However, Corbin seems like a different pitcher this season, as he hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any of his starts this season. Guerra on the other hand has given up nine runs in his last 10 innings of work spanning two starts, so I think this is a good as time as any for Arizona to get back on track and I think they do so with a win behind Corbin here.
