Tuesday MLB action features a matchup between the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves.
The Chicago Cubs couldn’t survive early struggles on the mound in a 6-5 loss to Atlanta on Monday. Chicago starter Jose Quintana was charged with all six runs on nine hits including three long balls before five relievers tossed shutout baseball.

The Cubs attack consisted of eight hits and four walks with Kris Bryant and Albert Almora Jr. slugging two run homers. The Cubs have named Yu Darvish as Tuesday’s starter at Atlanta. Darvish is still searching for win number one after an 11-2 defeat to Colorado with six runs plated on seven hits including three homers over 4.1 innings.
The Atlanta Braves rode an early power surge to a 6-5 win versus the Cubs Monday afternoon in a makeup game. Atlanta starter Julio Teheran gave up four runs on a pair of two run homers over six innings of work to pick up the win.
The Braves offense did their damage on nine hits and eight bases on balls with Ozzie Albies going 3-5 with a solo homer while Tyler Flowers connected on a two run bomb and scored twice. Jose Bautista gave Atlanta a three run bomb followed by Nick Markakis with a pair of runs.
Mike Foltyniewicz is gunning for back to back wins when he toes the rubber versus the visiting Cubs. Foltyniewicz comes in off of a 9-2 rout of Miami with an unearned run scoring through five frames.
Chicago Cubs are 5-1 in their last 6 overall and are 0-4 in their last 4 road games. Atlanta are 5-1 in their last 6 overall and are 1-4 in their last 5 home games. Chicago Cubs are 16-5 in the last 21 meetings and under is 9-3-1 in the last 13 meetings in Atlanta.
I think Foltyniewicz is every bit as good as Darvish and yet he is a home dog that I’ll back…
