For Tuesday’s game, the Rockies will be bringing out RHP German Marquez. In his 38.2 innings and 2-4 record this year, Marquez has a 5.35 ERA with 38 Ks and 19 BBs.
Coming into this set, the Rockies’ top hitter was Nolan Arenado with 41 hits, 22 runs, eight homers and 22 RBI. On Monday, Arenado had three hits and an RBI.
Over on the Padres’ side, they’re going with Jordan Lyles for the Tuesday game. Across his 24.2 innings and 0-1 record this year, Lyles has a 3.28 ERA with 22 Ks and eight walks.
Coming out of the weekend, the Padres’ leading hitter was Jose Pirela with 45 hits, 25 runs and 14 RBI. In the opener, Pirela went 0-for-4.
The Rockies are 4-0 in their last four Tuesday games and 4-1 in Marquez’s last five road starts. Colorado is also 4-1 in Marquez’s last five starts with four days’ rest and 6-2 in his last eight starts during game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Padres are 0-4 in Lyles’ last four starts and 0-4 in his last four starts on grass. The under is 4-1 in San Diego’s last five Tuesday games and San Diego is 8-18 in their last 26 versus a team with a winning record.
Marquez had a couple of good outings going there but gave up 12 hits and five earned in 4.2 innings his last time up. As for Lyles, he gave up one earned in five innings against the Cardinals but probably won’t go deep into this one. I”m sticking with the Rockies here.
