Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

For the Wednesday game, the Yankees will be going with lefty CC Sabathia. In his 36.1 innings and 2-0 record this year, Sabathia has a 2.23 ERA with 28 Ks and five walks.

Coming into this set, the Yankees’ top hitter was Aaron Judge with 46 hits, 33 runs, 11 homers and 35 RBI. On Tuesday, Judge was 0-for-2.

Over on the Nats’ side, they’re going with Max Scherzer on Wednesday. In his 58.2 innings and 7-1 record this year, Scherzer has a 1.69 ERA with 91 Ks and 13 BBs.

Coming into this series, the Nationals’ top hitters were Trea Turner and Howie Kendrick with 44 hits apiece. In the Tuesday opener, Kendrick had a hit and a run.

The Yankees are 6-0 in their last six during game two of a series and 36-16 in their last 52 Wednesday games. New York is also 5-1 in Sabathia’s last six Wednesday starts and 4-1 in his last five starts.

Meanwhile, the Nationals are 5-0 in Scherzer’s last five starts with four days’ rest and 8-2 in his last 10 starts in game two of a series. Washington is also 42-15 in Scherzer’s last 57 starts and 19-7 in his last 26 home starts.

So far this year, Sabathia has looked pretty good, and he’s made the most of his finesse pitching and isn’t relying solely on power. Sabathia did give up four earned in 4.0 innings on nine hits against Boston his last time out though. Scherzer, on the other hand, has been just filthy, and doesn’t have a lot of weaknesses. With Scherzer on the hill I have to go Nats here.
