The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Miami Marlins duke it out in the finale of their three game set from Marlins Park in MLB action on Thursday afternoon.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to avoid the sweep and snap a six game losing streak after a 6-5 loss in game two on Wednesday gave the Dodgers their ninth loss in their last ten games. Yasmani Grandal and Max Muncy each had two RBIs for L.A., with Grandal going 2 for 4 with a homer while Muncy went 1 for 3 with a double. Chris Taylor added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the Dodgers in the loss. Joc Pederson and Cody Bellinger each logged a double while Justin Turner added a pair of base hits to cap off the offense for the Dodgers in defeat. Walker Buehler gave up five runs, four earned, on seven hits while striking out seven over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Pedro Baez took the loss to fall to 1-2 this season. Kenta Maeda will start the finale and is 2-3 with a 4.75 ERA and 46 strikeouts this season. In his career, Maeda is 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA and 15 strikeouts against Miami.

The Miami Marlins will look to complete the sweep after their game two victory on Wednesday. Justin Bour led the Fish, going 1 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs. J.T. Realmuto added a solo homer, while Starlin Castro went 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI and Miguel Rojas added an RBI and a two-bagger of his own to finish the scoring for the Marlins in the victory. Martin Prado and Derek Dietrich each contributed base hits as well in the winning effort for Miami. Elieser Hernandez gave up one run on three hits over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Drew Steckenrider notched his first blown save of the year, but got the win to improve to 2-1 this season. Brad Ziegler picked up his 7th save of the season by finishing the 9th. Caleb Smith will start game three and is 2-4 with a 3.63 ERA and 53 strikeouts this season. This will be Smith’s first career start against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles is 0-6 in their last 6 games overall and 0-4 in Maeda’s last 4 starts while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 road games. Miami is 5-1 in their last 6 games against the NL West and 2-5 in Smith’s last 7 starts while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a right-handed starter. The under is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams in Miami.

If at the beginning of the year, you told me I would get the Dodgers at this price against Miami, I would’ve been on it like white on rice. However, the Dodgers hold no value right now, as they’re losing games left and right and have no right laying this kind of juice, anywhere let alone on the road. Smith was brutal to start the year, but he’s given up two runs or less in each of his last four starts. Maeda on the other hand, has given up three or more runs in four of his last five starts and the Dodgers have lost his last four starts and six of his last seven overall. Add all of that together and I think the only option is to take Miami and the plus money on Thursday.
