Lauer comes off of a 9-5 defeat to St. Louis with six runs allowed on six hits including four homers over 2.1 frames.

The surging Pittsburgh Pirates stayed hot with a 3-2 victory versus the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday for their 7th win in eight contests. Pittsburgh starter Jameson Taillon allowed both runs on a pair of solo bombs over 5.2 frames with three relievers putting up zeros.

The Pirates attack consisted of four hits and six bases on balls with Sean Rodriguez ripping a two run double. The Buccos received a pinch hit single from Josh Bell while Elias Diaz doubled, walked twice and scored two times.

Chad Kuhl draws Thursday’s starting assignment against the visiting Padres. Kuhl did not receive a decision in a 6-5 win versus San Francisco with three runs given up on six hits and four BB through six innings.

Under is 15-5-1 in San Diego last 21 Thursday games and under is 6-2 in San Diego last 8 overall and under is 6-2 in San Diego last 8 on grass. Pittsburgh are 8-1 in their last 9 home games and under is 22-6-3 in Pittsburgh last 31 Thursday games. San Diego are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Pittsburgh and under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

I’m not going to overthink this but the hotter team playing at home with a decent starter is how I’m thinking…
