Lauer comes off of a 9-5 defeat to St. Louis with six runs allowed on six hits including four homers over 2.1 frames.
The surging Pittsburgh Pirates stayed hot with a 3-2 victory versus the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday for their 7th win in eight contests. Pittsburgh starter Jameson Taillon allowed both runs on a pair of solo bombs over 5.2 frames with three relievers putting up zeros.
