Coming up Friday evening from Citi Field, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Mets will be kicking off their weekend series.
The Diamondbacks played the Brewers this week. Arizona won 2-1 on Tuesday but lost the other two games.

For Friday’s game, the Diamondbacks will be sending out Zack Godley. In his 46.1 innings and 4-2 record this year, Godley has a 4.08 ERA with 43 Ks and 19 BBs.
Tops in hitting this year for the Diamondbacks is AJ Pollock, with 44 hits, 23 runs, 11 homers and 33 RBI. Second is David Peralta with 41 hits, 19 runs, seven homers and 21 RBI to his name.
Over on the Mets’ side, they had a set versus the Blue Jays this week. The two teams split that pair of games, with each winner scoring 12 runs.
In the Friday game, New York will be going with Jacob deGrom in the start. Over 44.1 innings and a 3-0 record, deGrom has a 1.83 ERA with 56 Ks and 14 BBs this year.
The Mets’ leading hitter this season is Asdrubal Cabrera, way out front with 48 hits, 23 runs, six homers and 24 RBI. Yoenis Cespedes is second with 35 hits, 18 runs and 28 RBI.
The Diamondbacks are 4-0 in their last four games following an off day and 1-7 in their last eight overall. Arizona is also 0-5 in their last five versus the NL East and 9-2 in Godley’s last 11 starts in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Mets are 4-1 in their last five Friday games and 10-4 in their last 14 in game one of a series. New York is also 3-10 in their last 13 overall and 1-7 in their last eight home games.
Godley has been somewhat choppy this year, and he’s given up eight earned on 13 hits over 12.0 innings in his last pair of starts. As for deGrom, he’s been clean across his last 19.1 innings, with zero earned. Due to Arizona’s recent slide and the pitching matchup, I’m going to have to go with the Mets here.
