The Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants square off in game two of their four game set from AT&T Park in an NL West showdown in MLB action on Friday.

The Colorado Rockies will look to build some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last six games, including a 5-3 win in extra innings in Thursday’s opener. Daniel Castro and Carlos Gonzalez each had two RBIs, with Castro opening the scoring with a two-run double, while Gonzalez put up the game-winning two-run single in the 12th. Starting pitcher Chad Bettis added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the Rockies in the win. Gerardo Parra, Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story each had a pair of hits to cap off the offense for Colorado in the win. The aforementioned Bettis gave up all three runs on five hits while striking out five over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jake McGee got the win to improve to 1-2 this season while Wade Davis notched his 16th save of the year. Kyle Freeland will start game two and is 3-4 with a 3.42 ERA and 44 strikeouts this season. In his career, Freeland is 2-2 with a 3.22 ERA and 12 strikeouts against San Francisco.

San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies - 5/18/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco Giants will be looking to rebound from back-to-back losses after their series opening defeat on Thursday. Brandon Belt led the Giants with a two-run home run along with a double, while Gorkys Hernandez added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for San Fran in the loss. Austin Jackson added a pair of doubles while Brandon Crawford and starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija each added a base hit as well in the losing effort. Samardzija gave up three runs on five hits while striking out three over 6.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Pierce Johnson took the loss, falling to 2-2 this season. Derek Holland will start game two and is 2-4 with a 4.79 ERA and 39 strikeouts this season. In his career, Holland is 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA and 2 strikeouts against Colorado.

Colorado is 7-1 in their last 8 road games and 2-6 in Freeland’s last 8 division starts while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games against a left-handed starter. San Francisco is 3-8 in their last 11 games overall and 6-3 in their last 9 home games while the under is 4-0 in Holland’s last 4 starts against a team with a winning record. Colorado is 1-5 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in San Francisco.

Both of these pitchers are coming off of shutouts in their last outings respectively. However, Freeland has given up just five total runs in his last four starts with a pair of shutouts, covering 27.1 innings, while Holland has allowed three of more runs in six of his eight starts this season. All in all, I think Freeland and the Rockies are a lot easier to trust than the Giants and Holland, so I’ll take Colorado and the low line on Friday.
