The Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox clash at Fenway Park on Saturday, in game three of their four game AL East division set in MLB action.
The Baltimore Orioles will look to build some steam after evening up the series at one win apiece following their 7-4 victory in game two on Friday. Adam Jones, Manny Machado and Mark Trumbo each had two RBIs, with Machado going 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles while Mark Trumbo added a double of his own. Jonathan School hit a solo home run to cap off the scoring for the O’s in the win, while Chris Davis and Joey Rickard each added a double as well. Danny Valencia added a base hit of his own to round out the offense for Baltimore in the win. Alex Cobb got his first win of the year after giving up three runs on ten hits over 6.1 innings of work. Brad Brach notched his 6th save of the season. Dylan Bundy will start game three and is 2-5 with a 4.53 ERA and 55 strikeouts this season. In his career, Bundy is 3-5 with a 4.66 ERA and 30 strikeouts against Boston.

The Boston Red Sox will look to bounce back after dropping game two on Friday. Mookie Betts led the charge for Boston, going 3 for 5 with a homer and a pair of doubles. Eduardo Nunez added a double while going 2 for 4 with an RBI while Andrew Benintendi added an RBI of his own to cap off the scoring for the BoSox in the loss. J.D. Martinez added a pair of doubles and and Christian Vazquez added a two-bagger of his own while going 2 for 3. Brock Holt, Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers each contributed base hits as well in the defeat. Drew Pomeranz took the loss, falling to 1-2 this season after giving up five runs, four earned, on seven hits over just four innings of work. Rick Porcello will start game three and is 5-1 with a 3.28 ERA and 54 strikeouts this season. In his career, Porcello is 4-11 with a 4.88 ERA and 85 strikeouts against Baltimore.
Baltimore is 1-7 in Bundy’s last 8 division starts and 17-49 in their last 66 games overall while the over is 4-0 in Bundy’s last 4 starts overall. Boston is 6-2 in Porcello’s last 8 division starts and 13-6 in their last 19 home games while the over is 10-3-1 in Porcello’s last 14 home starts against a team with a losing record. Boston is 1-6 in Porcello’s last 7 starts against Baltimore and 0-4 in Porcello’s last 4 home starts against the Orioles.
Both hurlers are coming off of shutouts in their respective last starts. However, lets not forget that prior to his last outing, Bundy gave up 19 earned runs in nine innings covering three starts, including that start against the Royals where he surrendered seven runs without recording a single out. On the other hand, Porcello, as good as he has been this season, gave up five runs in back-to-back outings before his last start and has struggled against Baltimore in his career. So instead of trying to pick a side here, I’ll side with the over as I see both pitchers getting tagged.
