The Oakland Athletics and the Toronto Blue Jays square off in game three of their four game set from Rogers Centre in MLB action on Saturday.

The Oakland Athletics will look to push for the sweep on Sunday after taking the first two games of the series, including a 3-1 victory in game two on Friday. Eight of Oakland’s nine hits went for extra bases, with Dustin Fowler going 2 for 3 with a home run and a double to go along with two RBIs, while Josh Phegley added a double and an RBI to round out the scoring for the A’s in the win. Jed Lowrie added a pair of two-baggers and Matt Olson, Chad Pinder and Matt Chapman each chipped in a double while Khris Davis chipped in a base knock as well in the win. Brett Anderson lasted just one inning before leaving the game due to injury. Danny Coulombe got the win to improve to 1-1 this season, while Blake Treinen recorded his 9th save of the season. Sean Manaea will start game three and is 5-4 with a 2.35 ERA and 49 strikeouts this season. In his career, Manaea is 1-0 with a 3.50 ERA and 18 strikeouts against Toronto.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Oakland Athletics - 5/19/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to bounce back after dropping the first two games of the set, including their loss on Friday. Gio Urshela accounted for the lone Toronto run in the loss, while Luke Maile put up a double and Yangervis Solarte went 2 for 4 at the dish. Dwight Smith and Curtis Grandson each contributed base hits as well in the losing effort. Marco Estrada gave up all three runs on seven hits while striking out six over 6.2 innings of work, taking the loss to fall to 2-4 this season. Joe Biagini will start game three and is 0-2 with a 7.98 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season. This will be Biagini’s first career start against Oakland.

Oakland is 9-3 in their last 12 games against the AL East and 8-3 in Manaea’s last 11 starts against the AL East while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. Toronto is 3-14 in Biagini’s last 17 starts and 2-5 in their last 7 games against the AL West while the under is 5-0-1 in their last 6 home games against a left-handed starter. Oakland is 2-12 in the last 14 meetings between these two teams in Toronto.

This line is a bit surprising to me. Sure, Manaea has given up four runs in each of his last three starts, but the guy still has an ERA just over two and despite having an average record, he always gives Oakland a chance to win. Biagini has been flat out brutal in his three starts this year, allowing ten runs in his last two starts covering nine innings. As a Toronto fan, this hurts to say, but based on the pitching advantage alone, this price is a steal and one that should be jumped on on Sunday, so I’ll side with Oakland to push for the sweep on Sunday.
