The Milwaukee Brewers and the Minnesota Twins face off in the finale of their three game interleague set from Target Field in MLB action on Sunday.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look to complete the sweep after winning three straight and seven of their last nine games following a 5-4 win in game two on Saturday. Jesus Aguilar led the Brewers with two RBIs, going 1 for 3 with a homer, while Christian Yelich went 1 for 4 with a solo homer of his own and Manny Pina went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Travis Shaw, Ji-Man Choi and Jonathan Villar each added base hits as well in the winning effort for the Brewers. Freddy Peralta gave up all four runs on three hits while walking six and striking out five over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Josh Hader got the win, improving to 2-0 after tossing 2.1 innings of scoreless relief with six strikeouts. Junior Guerra will start game three and is 3-3 with a 3.08 ERA and 37 strikeouts this season. This will be Guerra’s first career start against Minnesota.

The Minnesota Twins will look to avoid the sweep and salvage a win after their loss on Saturday. Jake Cave went 1 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, while Bobby Wilson added a double and two RBIs of his own to round out the scoring for the Twins in the loss. Logan Morrison also added a double while Robbie Grossman and Eddie Rosario each added base hits as well in the losing effort. Fernando Romero went five innings, giving up four runs, three earned on three hits, not factoring in the decision. Addison Reed took the loss, falling to 0-3 this season in the process. Jake Odorizzi will start the finale and is 3-2 with a 3.35 ERA and 45 strikeouts this season. In his career, Odorizzi is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 5 strikeouts against Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is 14-3 in their last 17 games against a team with a losing record and 10-2 in their last 12 road games while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games against the AL Central. Minnesota is 1-5 in their last 6 games overall and 15-6 in their last 21 interleague games while the under is 4-0 in Odorizzi’s last 4 home starts. Milwaukee is 2-5 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
I’m not sure why Vegas hasn’t picked up on this yet, but I’m not complaining. We are getting the red hot brewers at plus money, while the Twins keep finding ways to lose games. Guerra had a couple of hiccups recently, but he’s still given up two runs or less in five of his seven starts this season. I basically think this just boils down to getting the better team at plus money, so I’m not going to complicate it, just take the Brewers for the sweep on Sunday.
