In the process a strong performance on the mound went by the wayside with starter Elieser Hernandez giving up a run through five frames while Nick Wittgren gave up a 7th inning run.

The Marlins were held to five hits and four bases on balls with Starlin Castro going 2-4 while Miguel Rojas logging a single and a walk. The Marlins have named Caleb Smith as Tuesday’s starter at the NY Mets. Smith suffered a 7-0 defeat at the LA Dodgers last time out with four runs plated on two hits over three frames.
The surging New York Mets will be gunning for their 5th consecutive victory after downing Miami 2-0 on Monday. New York was strong on the mound with Jason Vargas allowing two hits over five scoreless frames with five relievers putting up zeros.
The Mets banged out nine hits with Asdrubal Cabrera and Wilmer Flores driving in runs while Devin Mesoraco and Amed Rosario scored. Zack Wheeler toes the rubber for the Mets against the Marlins on Tuesday night. Wheeler is looking to bounce back from a 12-1 loss at Toronto with six runs plated on seven hits and three BB over four innings.
