The Los Angeles Angels and the Toronto Blue Jays duke it out in game one of their three game set from Rogers Centre in MLB action on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to build some steam after snapping a five game losing skid with a 5-2 victory over Tampa Bay in their series finale on Sunday. Zack Cozart and Martin Maldonado each had two RBIs, with Maldonado going 1 for 3 with a home run. Luis Valbuena added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the Halos in the win. Chris Young and Michael Hermosillo each had a double while Andrelton Simmons had a base knock as well as Los Angeles put up just four hits as a team in the win. Shohei Ohtani got the win, improving to 4-1 this season after giving up both runs on six hits while striking out nine over 7.2 innings of work. Blake Parker struck out a pair in the 9th en route to his 2nd save of the season. Garrett Richards will start game one and is 4-2 with a 3.47 ERA and 53 strikeouts this season. In his career, Richards is 2-3 with a 5.74 ERA and 24 strikeouts in his career against Toronto.

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Blue Jays will be out to snap a losing streak of their own which currently sits at four games after being swept by Oakland, including a 9-2 loss in the series finale on Sunday. Yangervis Solarte’s consolation two run home run in the 9th was all the scoring that Toronto would do in the loss, going 2 for 4 while Kendrys Morales matched that mark at the plate and even threw a scoreless top of the 9th as well. Joe Biagini took the loss, falling to 0-3 this season after giving up four runs, three earned, on six hits over four innings of work. J.A. Happ will start game one and is 5-3 with a 4.15 ERA and 66 strikeouts this season. In his career, Happ is 1-6 with a 6.17 ERA and 32 strikeouts against the Angels.

Los Angeles is 14-3 in their last 17 road games and 1-5 in their last 6 games overall while the over is 12-3 in their last 15 starts against a team with a losing record. Toronto is 6-2 in Happ’s last 8 starts and 0-6 in their last 6 home games while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games against the AL East. Toronto is 1-5 in Happ’s last 6 starts against the Angels and 0-4 in his last 4 starts at home against Los Angeles.

The Angels have had all of the success between these two when Happ is on the mound. However, I’m not ready to jump back into backing the Angels after their struggles over the last week, even though they've been very good on the road, at times it seems like Ohtani or bust with this team. On the other hand, playing at home hasn’t really helped Toronto either. Rather than try to pick a side, I’ll go with the over as both teams are still capable offensively.
