The Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox hook up for game one of a three game interleague set from Fenway Park in MLB action on Friday.
The Atlanta Braves had a day off on Thursday, after alternating wins and losses in each of their last four games, including a 4-0 loss in their series finale on Wednesday. Nick Markakis and Ender Inciarte each went 2 for 4 at the dish, while Johan Camargo and Dansby Swanson each had a double. Freddie Freeman and Ryan Flaherty each chipped in base hits as well in the losing effort. Luiz Gohara took the loss, falling to 0-1 this season after giving up two runs on four hits while walking four and striking out six over four innings of work. Julio Teheran will start the opener and is 4-1 with a 4.17 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season. In his career, Teheran is 0-2 with a 4.73 ERA and 11 strikeouts against Boston.

The Boston Red Sox will be looking to rebound after having their four game winning streak snapped following a 6-3 loss in the series finale on Thursday. Mitch Moreland belted out a solo home run, while Rafael Devers went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Eduardo Nunez and Sandy Leon each went 2 for 4 with Nunez adding a double while Mookie Betts added a base hit as well to cap off the offense for the Red Sox in the losing effort. Rick Porcello took the loss, falling to 6-2 this season after giving up all six runs, four earned, on eight hits over 3.2 innings of work. Eduardo Rodriguez will start game one and is 4-1 with a 4.12 ERA and 58 strikeouts this season. This will be Rodriguez’s first career start against Atlanta.
Atlanta is 12-3 in their last 15 road games and 4-0 in Teheran’s last 4 starts while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a left-handed starter. Boston is 8-1 in Rodriguez’s last 9 starts 35-16 in their last 51 games overall while the under is 7-1 in Rodriguez’s last 8 interleague starts. Atlanta is 2-6 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams in Boston.
The Red Sox are a tough out at Fenway, however I’m not sure how confident I’d be laying this kind of juice even with Boston at home. The Red Sox played yesterday, got it taken to them by the Rays, and had to travel all the way back to Boston for Friday’s game. The Braves are rested, playing well on the road and have been just as good with Teheran on the mound, winning eight of his last ten starts, including that massive comeback last weekend. Sure, Teheran has given up ten runs in his last two starts, including six against Miami, but there’s too much value with the plus money to pass up here.
