The Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays duke it out in game one of their three game AL East division set from Tropicana Field in MLB action on Friday.
The Baltimore Orioles come into this one looking to build some momentum after salvaging a series split with the White Sox, including a 9-3 win in the series finale on Thursday. Chance Sisco led the O’s with three RBIs, while Pedro Alvarez chipped in two RBIs and Trey Mancini and Adam Jones each added a solo home run. Manny Machado went 3 for 5 with an RBI and Craig Gentry added a run on the board as well to round out the scoring for Baltimore in the win. Jonathan School also added a base hit as well to cap off the Oriole offense in the victory. Dylan Bundy got the win to improve to 3-6 this season after tossing a complete game, giving up all three runs on two hits while striking out a whopping 14 batters.

The Tampa Bay Rays will look to build some momentum of their own after snapping a three game losing skid with a 6-3 win over the Red Sox in their series finale on Thursday to avoid the sweep. Wilson Ramos led the Rays with two RBIs, while Matt Duffy and Brad Miller each had an RBI as well in the winning effort. Denard Span went 2 for 3 with a double while C.J. Cron, Daniel Robertson, Mallex Smith and Willy Adams each contributed base hits in the victory. Blake Snell threw six shutout innings, giving up just three hits while striking out eight to get the win and improve to 6-3 this season. Alex Colome closed out the final batter in the 9th for his 11th save of the year.
Baltimore is 4-9 in their last 13 division matchups and 4-1 in their last 5 Friday games while the under is 11-1 in their last 12 games on turf. Tampa Bay is 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 2-6 in their last 8 division matchups while the under is 5-0-2 in their last 7 home games. Baltimore is 0-5 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Tampa Bay.
Neither of these two teams come into this one with much consistency yet and the Rays have struggled at home. However, the Rays have found something with giving Sergio Romo the start for an inning and then giving the other team a different look when putting in their true starter in the 2nd inning or 3rd. Baltimore simply isn’t a good team this season, and are staring a 100-loss season in the eye and I think their woes at the Trop continue with a series opening loss on Friday.
