The Los Angeles Angels and the New York Yankees face off in game two of their three game weekend MLB set from Yankee Stadium on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to build some consistency after splitting their last six games, including a 2-1 loss in the series opener on Friday. Mike Trout’s solo home run in the 5th to tie the game was the lone run the Halos would score in the loss. Kole Calhoun went 2 for 3 while Justin Upton, Andrelton Simmons and Martin Maldonado each had a base hit as well in the losing effort for Los Angeles. Andrew Heaney gave up one run on four hits while striking out five over 6.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jim Johnson took the loss, falling to 2-2 after giving up the game winning RBI in the 7th. Jaime Barria will start game two and is 3-1 with a 2.13 ERA and 20 strikeouts this season. This will be Barria’s first career start against the Yankees.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Yankees will look to win the series and go for the sweep on Sunday after their win in the series opener on Friday. Gleyber Torres accounted for both Yankee RBIs in the win, going 2 for 3 with a solo home run. Miguel Andujar added a double while Brett Gardner and Gary Sanchez each had a base hit as well in the win. Luis Severino went six innings, giving up the one run on four hits while walking four and striking out five, not factoring in the decision. Chad Green got the win to climb to 3-0 this season while Aroldis Chapman notched his 10th save of the year. Sonny Gray will start game two and is 3-3 with a 5.48 ERA and 37 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gray is 5-3 with a 3.21 ERA and 72 strikeouts against the Angels.

Los Angeles is 16-5 in their last 21 road games and 8-17 in their last 25 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 3-0-2 in their last 5 games overall. New York is 38-13 in their last 51 home games and 22-6 in their last 28 games overall while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Los Angeles is 10-30 in the last 40 meetings between these two teams in New York.

The Angels have been solid on the road so far this season, but one place the Halos have struggled over the years is Yankee Stadium. Barria has pitched well so far, but in my opinion, a young pitcher like that is due to slip up at some point and I see that happening against a powerful Yankees offense that still won despite having the bats quieted on Friday. I got burned with the Yankees on the run line on Friday, so instead of taking the chance again, I’ll lay the juice with New York as part of a parlay on Saturday.
