The Arizona Diamondbacks battle the Oakland Athletics in an interleague MLB tilt on Sunday.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been fading and that trend continued in a 3-0 loss at Oakland where the bats did nothing. Arizona starter Clay Buchholz absorbed the loss with a run allowed on two hits over six innings while Jorge De La Rosa and Fernando Salas allowed solo homers.

The Diamondbacks were held to singles off the bats of David Peralta and Socrates Brito. The Diamondbacks give Sunday’s starting assignment to veteran Zack Greinke. Greinke comes in off of a 4-2 loss at Milwaukee with all four runs plated on five his including three homers through six innings.
The Oakland Athletics rode the long ball at the plate and an outstanding performance on the mound in upending visiting Arizona on Saturday. Oakland starter Daniel Mengden upped his record to 5-4 with a complete game two hit shutout.
The Athletics offense mustered five hits and walked once with Matt Joyce, Matt Olson and Chad Pinder each clubbing solo homers. Trevor Cahill takes the mound from Oakland for Sunday’s series finale’ against visiting Arizona. Cahill did not receive a decision in a 3-2 loss to Seattle with two runs given up over seven frames.
Arizona are 1-7 in their last 8 road games and are 5-16 in their last 21 overall and are 5-16 in their last 21 games on grass. Oakland are 15-5 in their last 20 Sunday games and under is 8-3 in Oakland last 11 Sunday games and Oakland are 10-23 in their last 33 interleague games. Over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and Arizona are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Oakland.
I think the Diamondbacks have the edge with Greinke on the hill but I don’ think the D-Backs are worth betting right now…
