The Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks meet Monday in MLB action at Chase Field.
The Cincinnati Reds could use a victory here after losing eight of their last 13 games. The Reds have allowed 18 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 10 of their last 12 games. The Cincinnati Reds have lost 12 of their last 15 games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Scooter Gennett leads the Reds with 67 hits and 37 RBI while Joey Votto and Jose Peraza have combined for 105 hits and 36 RBI. Homer Bailey gets the ball, and he is 1-6 with a 6.21 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season. Bailey is 1-1 with a 3.42 ERA and 18 strikeouts in his career against the Diamondbacks.

The Arizona Diamondbacks could also use a win after losing 10 of their last 12 games. The Diamondbacks have scored eight runs in their last three games and two or less runs in 10 of their last 12 games. The Arizona Diamondbacks have lost nine straight games when scoring under seven runs. David Peralta leads the Diamondbacks with 48 hits and 21 RBI while A.J. Pollock and Ketel Marte have combined for 83 hits and 44 RBI. Matt Koch gets the ball, and he is 2-3 with a 3.77 ERA and 25 strikeouts this season. This will be Koch’s first career game against the Reds.
The Reds are 8-3 in their last 11 vs. National League West, 2-5 in Baileys last 7 road starts and 8-23 in Baileys last 31 starts. The Diamondbacks are 1-4 in their last 5 during game 1 of a series, 1-6 in their last 7 home games and 0-4 in their last 4 vs. National League Central. The under is 53-26-7 in the last 86 meetings.
I'm not trying to get behind the Arizona Diamondbacks, as this club can't score to save its life and what looked to be the favorites to win the NL West is in serious danger of missing the playoffs overall. However, I can't back Homer Bailey, who has allowd no less than three runs in his last eight starts and is allowing a .314 batting average in 58 innings. On the road this season, Bailey is allowing a 4.64 ERA with a .292 batting average. The Reds have lost 15 of the last 19 games in which Homer Bailey has pitched. This should be a game where the Arizona Diamondbacks get a much needed victory.
