The Cincinnati Reds and the Arizona Diamondbacks square off in game two of their three game set from Chase Field in MLB action on Tuesday.
The Cincinnati Reds will look to rebound from a 12-5 loss in the series opener on Monday. Adam Duvall led the Reds, going 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs, while Eugenio Suarez went 4 for 5 with a double of his own and the team’s other RBI in the loss. Scooter Gennett went 3 for 5 and Jose Peraza had two hits, while Brandon Dixon, Tucker Barnhart, Joey Votto, Billy Hamilton and starting pitcher Homer Bailey each had hits as well in the defeat. Homer Bailey took the loss, falling to 1-7 this season after giving up eight runs, six earned, on six hits while striking out three over four innings of work. Luis Castillo will start game two and is 4-4 with a 5.34 ERA and 55 strikeouts this season. In his career, Castillo is 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA and 15 strikeouts against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to build some steam after flexing some offensive muscle in game one on Monday. Nick Ahmed led the D-Backs with four RBIs, going 2 for 4 with a homer run, while Chris Owings added a dinger of his own with three RBIs. John Ryan Murphy added a solo homer, while Ketel Marte had a double and an RBI. Paul Goldschmidt, Jake Lamb and Socrates Brito each had an RBI to round out the scoring for the Diamondbacks in the win. Daniel Descalso also chipped in a triple to round out Arizona’s offensive output. Matt Koch got the win, improving to 3-3 this season after giving up all five runs on eleven hits over five innings of work. Zack Godley will start game two and is 4-4 with a 4.53 ERA and 52 strikeouts this season. In his career, Godley is 2-1 with an 11.91 ERA and 7 strikeouts against Cincinnati.
Cincinnati is 4-0 in Castillo’s last 4 starts and 5-13 in their last 18 road games against a right-handed starter while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Arizona is 1-4 in Godley’s last 5 starts and 1-6 in their last 7 home games while the under is 9-1-1 in Godley’s last 11 game 2 starts. The under is 53-26-7 in the last 86 meetings between these two teams and 33-16-3 in the last 52 meetings between these two teams in Arizona.
Arizona showed some serious offensive firepower in game one, but let’s not forget that these are the same D-Backs that just lost 15 of their last 18 games and Godley, while having a 2-1 career record against Cincy, has an ERA just south of twelve against the Reds and has given up four runs or more in five of his eight starts. Castillo has had rough patches, but has allowed two runs or less in each of his last five starts. If the Reds are going to steal a game in this series, I think it’s this one, so I’ll take a shot at Cincinnati and the plus money here.
